Songwriting Camp

Learn to write your own songs with the guidance of RIn this week-long camp, students will learn to write and complete an original song as they cover the fundamentals of songwriting structure and theory in a daily, one-hour class. Each day will be an exciting and challenging experience as students receive one-on-one assistance with song composition and lyric writing, in addition to group instruction and collaboration. Jared will share expert tips and experiences to inspire and guide students through the process, with additional instruction from our hand-picked special guests. Students will perform their masterpiece on the final day for an audience of fellow students, parents, and peers, in an all-out concert. This camp will give your student the essential tools they need to grow as a musician and continue to write their own music. Jared Barney is an accomplished guitar teacher, songwriter, and producer with over 20 years of experience in the music industry. As lead singer of his previous band Millhouse, Jared opened up for national acts like Sheryl Crow, Smashmouth, and The Drifters, to name a few. During his eleven years at Rock University, Jared has fostered a love for music and songwriting in his students, some of which have gone on to be contestants on The Voice, release music under international record labels, and appear in Rolling Stone Magazine.
